The Need to Slow Down

It’s been a while that I haven’t posted something on this page. What have I been up to?
Well, I realized that time it running up and that I am definitely taking my sweet time to apply to for a program. I had no idea I would be so busy at work and in the classes I am taking. It’s been forever since I have been to the gym and I am slowly getting tensed again from school and work pressure. A break would be nice. I have never been to a spa.
Maybe one day there would make a huge difference. Who knows? All I know is that I need to do something before I get all stressed out.

Cocktail Party

Last night, I donned my way too expensive suit and shoes and attended a benefit cocktail for the Young Haitian Chamber of Commerce; however it is translated in English. I must admit that I am not used to such events where one must try to collect as many business cards as possible in the minimal amount of time while handing the same amount of cards and trying to appear friendly yet professional at all times. But yeah, it was still fun in the end.
I met the Haitian ambassador to Canada who gave us a speech on the need for young Haitians to come back home. 5 years ago, I would have taken his words for gospel. However, with the current situation, the discourse was akin to incitation to suicide.

I was also pleased to meet Ralph Gilles, the designer behind the Magnum and the C300.
I have to say when I talked to him; I didn’t know he was the one who had designed the Magnum, a car I drove for a bit while I was away on business. Had I known, I would have had some suggestions to him for the next version. I guess I should start paying more attention to American car companies….

Overall, the cocktail went well. I collected a fair amount of business cards and met some acquaintances I hadn’t seen in a while. It’s surprising to see so many young female lawyers in one place! I’d say about half of the women in attendance were lawyers in their late 20s. How many were single?

I met some cabinet minister, political attachés, etc… Bottom line is that I had fun and I didn’t get too drunk off the wine served.

When is the next cocktail?
